THE BIOLOGICAL

"Biological Agriculture" has joined together agronomic techniques based on the natural integration between living organisms, climate, soil conditions and man's participation, without the use of chemical products of synthesis. This is a productive system which doesn't think that producing in vast quantities is the main key factor, but aims at a quality product which is able to balance the techniques mentioned above.

The EEC REGULATION N° 2092/91 controls the biological products (we are therefore talking about a European Community law, which is valid in all European Countries). The production of biological products is certified in the European Community by an authorised board, who provides the members all the information and necessary support. Italy, with an increasing of more than 50 billion lire in 1999, is a rear light if we compare her to other big European Countries, but the market has grown enormously this year (+25,3%). Natural products are by now a strong reality, mainly in Germany where the market is well over 4.300 billion lire, France (1.700 billion lire) and Austria (1.600 billion lire.)

THE ITALIAN  DISCOVERED THE BIOLOGICAL PRODUCTS

…afraid of beeing infected by mad cow disease and chickens contaminated by dioxin, the Italians are changing their food habits tending more and more towards natural products, as the boom of biological products has shown, having no equals in the agroindustrial sectors. We can now say that 6 out of 100 Italians eat biological products several times a week, while there are around about 850 specialised shops, of which two thirds are situated in the north of Italy. The use of natural food products covers 14,5% of the European Market and in the seven main European Community Countries the business is valued 10.000 billion lire with the possibility of a continual increase.
